Quoting markwillen

I understand that the forums need to be kept free from self-promotion, but if we are preventing genuine individual travelers from endorsing companies that they liked, we've forgotten what a forum is for...

If that very same 'individual traveller' thought it necessary to revive a year old (e.g. no longer relevant) thread in order to give his recommendation and to edit the wiki to insert a link there as well, it's a virtual guarantee that this person is not in fact a disinterested party, but is just astroturfing; pretending to be a genuine traveller while actually having a relation to the site being promoted. (Especially if there was an older thread with wiki edit which showed the same behaviour.)

Believe me, we tend to learn all the 'subtle' tricks that spammers use here...

I had two good experiences in Fez and told the people I had the experiences with that I would let them know. I guess you can call that spam if you want to. I call it word of mouth. I thought that was what forums and wiki's were for, my mistake.

lol on thought police, I suppose it depends on if you are making money from them, as for me....I'm not. Just had a good time.

best,

V

By the way...the year old thread happens to say that the people will be coming in June and July of THIS year....to me that makes it current.
