Hey Guys,

My girlfriend and I are looking for a cheap but nice beach holiday with a little bit of culture if possible. Has anyone got any ideas?

Hi there,

Do you have a specific area in mind. Europe, North Africa, Middle East, further away?
Close to the UK, I find Northern Africa interesting if you like beaches and culture. Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt all offer those. Or either Malta or Cyprus. Greece and Southern Spain offer a lot as well.

Got no real ideas. Have thought about Turkey and Morocco, but no idea where to look for good deals.

Cheers for help

Have you got tent and camping gear?

If you aren't looking for package deals, go to and look for cheap flights.

Then come back and ask for more information about destinations that tickled your fancy.

Ibiza (Spain) has some nice beaches and some good camping sites.

Venice has a beach and some culture, and while Venice is generally expensive, if you stay at a camping site on the Lido or so it can be cheap too.

Give me the name of a country, or countries you fancy - and a budget.

Kind of set on Turkey or Morocco now. (although open to suggestions)

Budget is under £250 (flights and accom) - could push to £300

Not keen on camping at all for this trip, cheers for suggestion though.

Also dont really want it to be too touristy, kind of asking a bit much but dont want it to be one of those english resorts that you might have stayed at home, if that makes sense?

Cheers again guys, appreciate advice

£250 for flights and room and you fancy Morocco or Turkey, but you don't want camping?? Sorry, you've lost me with this one - totally. All I can suggest is EasyJet, Manchester to Dalaman from round about £120 return including tax etc. That leaves you £130 for a room. You might just do it, but I doubt it.

Turkey in high season and only 130 GBP per person without the flights? That is just enough money to survive in Turkey for about 4 days!

I have a better idea: Go to a travel agency and book a package deal. Currently there are many sales, you can get one week in a 2 1/2 star hotel including breakfast and flights on Majorca or in Turkey for around 300 GBP per person. Since there aren't many people booking holidays right now you end up paying for just the flight, you get the hotel thrown in for free in the deal. It won't be the best hotel and it will be in a typical resort strip area, but at least this is something you can afford!

If you travel independently you need to budget around 35 GBP per day and person in Turkey. So for a 14-day trip on your own you are looking at 500 GBP plus flights - per person.

Morocco will be cheaper, here you can plan on having 20 GBP per day and person. So for a 14-day trip you'll need 300 GBP per person plus the cost of the flight.

Yesterday on ITV Teletext (GB) was a B&B in Minorca, including flights and transfers for £129.
There are some deals on there to Greece too (departing from various GB airports) for under £150.
