Take the word of people who haven't done what they are giving advice for with a grain of salt, ex: if the parent's haven't RTW'd then they might not be the best advice-givers.

I'm going to give it to you straight:

Since you've already booked the trip, here's my recommendation: SAVE SAVE SAVE - or take a loan out / have credit card.

36 pounds per/day is pretty low for 2 people traveling with the destinations you've chosen. All those countries except for Thailand and Fiji have a high standard of living and thus are more expensive.

If you can, try to double your money to 72 pounds per day, or cut your trip short by a couple months - you'll be glad you did.

I sincerely hope you have fun. And while I may be a relatively cheap traveler myself - with activities and myself alone, I'd be struggling to have fun with that budget.

FYI: it cost me $16,000 to travel for one year (living cheaply, yet having fun) 1992.

Good luck!

When I stayed in Bangkok 1-2 years ago our room was about £5 each for the night and we had our own private bathroom and balcony, it was clean and spacious. Food is silly cheap if you don't mind eating say off the street carts etc.

At the end of the day, you've booked your flight and you have a while till you go so just save as much as possible till then, you can always cut your trip short and fly back early if you start running out of money or find odd jobs whilst abroad, just be pro active!

I always find that you find a way to survive when you need/want to !

Rooms in Thailand are per room as opposed to per person. I have booked some rooms online (Lamphu House in SOi Rambuttri Bangkok and think it cost me 600baht). Its average accomodation and you will find it even cheaper out there, so id say you have plenty for accomodation.
Sounds really good, and im impressed by the amount of planning :)
