Hi!

I'm off to Slovenia for the last week of August, and I'm hoping people will be able to help me: I was going to spend 3 nights in Ljubljana, but also wanted to check out Lake Bled (as a day trip) and also the castle at Postojna (also just a day trip). So is one day enough time to really check out the capital?

Also, there seems to be little in the way of budget accommodation in Piran, which I intend to spend about 3 nights at. Does anyone have any good recommendations on where to go? And can I get to the Stocjan Caves from Piran as a day trip?

Thanks for all your help! :D

I had a whirlwind trip to Slovenia planned by my friend there so may not be able to help much but here's it...

You're better off checking out the rest of Slovenia than Ljubljana. It's just another European city to me and we were only there for a few hours one night. Then again if you're looking for nightlife it's the best here. Bled was beautiful and can be done as a day or half-day trip. You can also visit the Postojna caves (there's a combi ticket with the castle) on the way to Piran. There's a HI at Piran if I don't remember wrongly.

I dunno the distance for the Stoscjan caves from Piran but if you have a car it should be fine. Country's small enough to drive for a few hours if needed. I would also recommend the mining museum in Velenje, was a hidden gem I thought!
