Hi,

I am about to travel from Hamburg, Germany to Boston, USA via Dublin. I have booked flights with two Airlines. One ist Ryanair for flight from Hamburg to Dublin and the other ist Aer Lingus, from Dublin to Boston. Which means I need to pick up my baggage first and check it in again with at Aer Lingus ' counter. I am Thai with residence permit in Germany and according to information from irish consulate Thai citizen does not need a Transit Visa. But since I have to get off the transit area for another check-in, do I need to apply for another type of visa for this purpose ?

ps. I have a valid visa for the US

Thank you in advance

I could be wrong on this but I think my information is correct...
The transit area is airside in Dublin airport, as is the baggage retreival (of course). I'm pretty sure they've got a transit desk well signposted 'airside' so I really don't think you'll have to 'go out' through security and check in again.
That's my reading of it. I'll check a little further and see what I can find out.

Hi again Picci29,
I've been asking some questions and from what I've been "reliably" informed, you'll be fine as your baggage will not pass through security and will remain Airside. You can check in again at the transit desk when you step off your flight from Hamburg.
But, having said that I haven't seen it written anywhere officially yet. I'll keep looking.

zaksame, thanks a lot for the information. It will save me up to 300 EUR by flying with Aer Lingus instead of KLM or BA.
