: I think a "Best Of TP" book is in order!

I'll buy it for sure!
So, who is in it? That is, after the first pages where mom and dad are surely meant to be;)

I'm not quite sure that's what Ev meant but hey... Only time will tell...

Ev, you write the book. I can give you enough for several chapters as I'm still subscribed to several of those past threads. Where would you like to start? ;)

No first chapter on rules by you Isa

Isa, will you send me on the links? I'd get a big bang out of re-reading all those again

We could definitely have one chapter entitled The TP Meltdown or The BIG FIGHT or The Ass Kicking

I don't think you want that... But, then again - they seem to be rather fluid...

I'm afraid most of the ass-kickin' parts were deleted. But, what remains still makes a good story. I'll see what I can dig up for you. ;)

I am waiting for Swept Away to respond to my last reply in this thread:

http://www.travellerspoint.com/forum.cfm?thread=62449

If he doesn't honor my request I'll refuse to read any threads he starts and will not reply to any of his posts.

I find Swept Away quite annoying, but as long as he writes only drunk drivel that is easily ignored ...

I don't like Swept Away's posts for a bunch of reasons, but most importantly because they don't have any coherance, and they don't make any sense. You can not have a conversation by not communicating. So what do you suggest ?

"no coherance and no sense..." But some people respond to it, even if its moved to the off topic threads, a section I never cared to visit. No sense to you... my post could be a lot things except for "irrelevant" or "stupid". The reality that other travelers post intelligent responses only means that it is a legitimate travel thought.

Quoting Swept Away

The reality that other travelers post intelligent responses only means that it is a legitimate travel thought.

See, I keep being puzzled by you making this claim.

Maybe this time you're willing to elaborate? Let me quote my questions from the last time you said basically the same thing:

Quoting Sander

Quoting Swept Away

The fact that people like you manage to post an intelligent reply, only means that thoughts expressed are relevant and interesting.

  • Am I correct in reading here that you claim that there is a causal relationship between a reply being "intelligent", and the original thoughts to which the reply was made being "relevant and interesting"? That is, are you indeed declaring that if a reply is intelligent, the thing it replies to MUST by virtue of that reply have been "relevant and interesting"?
  • I assume that since there is a period before a reply is made, it is possible for an original thought to have been "relevant and interesting" purely on its own?
  • Do you by any chance also believe the reverse holds? That is, if a reply is not intelligent, does this mean the original thoughts were not "relevant and interesting"? (And so, because you did not have "intelligent" replies to this "thing that looks like its 16 and American" on the topics of "MARXISM, FREUD, The insurgency in Sri Lanka, Sarah Palin", was it that very lack of intelligent reply which made his thoughts not relevant and interesting?)
  • How do things work when a "relevant and interesting" thought gets some replies which are intelligent, and some which are not? Do we descend into quantum physics there, or how does that work?

You may transpose "relevant and interesting" with "legitimate travel thought" if you so desire.

My position at this point (which I'm quite willing to change based upon clarification of what it is that you're actually saying) is that there are a lot of things which can be said and garner intelligent replies which are not as a matter of fact "relevant and interesting" for these forums, and (thus?) not welcome nor desired on this forum. (That is, these forums are not designed to be home to the set of all possible thoughts which can be expressed on the topic of travel. There is a very distinct subset we like to see here, and a just as distinct subset which we don't like to see. This can be readily seen in the area of promotional posts on travel related subjects, but there are many other areas for which the same holds.)
Furthermore it is my belief that most of things which you have been posting fall within the category of things which are not desired nor welcome, and that this has been communicated to you in a large variety of ways by a number of the people who have been entrusted with keeping these forums pleasant.
I rather hope you have actually understood at least some of these communications.

So your proof for coherance and sensibility are a bunch of requests from other travellers for you to be more coherant and sensible ?!?! I like that !

I suggest you let this go, and in the future "be nicer" and more respectful towards others on this forum.

So, if Swept Away is sincerely not trying to provoke people, then I think that over time spent with the community here, people will all start to understand him better and tensions will diminish.

And if he is just trying to get under people's skin, then he won't stick around for the long haul if he receives no reaction to what seem to be provocative, negative comments.

EXACTLY! Is it that complicated? LEST WE FORGET, this thread has an original text... but nobody reacts to the idea "Forum of personalities or topics"...its all about a member being a "lunatic" or a "dumbass".

I never posted on off topic. I got here because of the threads that were deemed, irrelevant, pointless and recently, provocative... Some poeple just come here and find topics they want to react to. They dont care who I am or where I am from... I do the same... I read topics I am interested and I react to the post. Some people log in and they look for something that they think is interesting and they are intelligent people, who will not respond to irrelevant topics...

regarding the warnings... I got 1 public last warning... the 2 PMs were not warnings, but polite inquiries from admin about why I am getting a lot of angry replies... I have explained myself to the admn. because, I know I am only a guest in this forum. What forum rule did I violate... I've asked... can someone be specific??? warnings for what? For writing threads that provoke hatred? Is that forum rule number??? and how do you know that it was my intention. Some people think its just to make conversation... EXACTLY, and the people who posted intelligent replies proves the relavance of a thread.

The threads have a tittle and you are not forced to read... paradoxically, the 1st to reply are people who just complained about what I posted...

Its sad... but I thank the people who have the courage to defend this lunatic.
This forum has a lot of intelligent people and they can see through threads like this, what is to be sad about.
