Mail box privacy and SPAM accusations

Travel Forums System Talk Mail box privacy and SPAM accusations

I just lost the privilege of sending messages... I can't reply either.

I am now a spam suspect. Whoever made the report is clearly ------- case. How childish can bored people get.

If somebody calls me moron or a monkey through a private message do I have to like call the Vatican to take that person's privilege to send messages? I would rather get it through a private message, rather than have such members waste the precious real estate of the threads to express their ill nature.

Its sad...

about the privacy of the mailbox. I don't know. I shouldn't even ask. I assume that it is private.

What if I am not a SPAMMer what happens to that arrogant member who insults the intelligence of the forum by acting like a 5th grade teacher's pet reporting a so called abuse?

It seem like some people here are desperate to achieve something before they hit 50, so they are acting as if they are Moderators too.

Okay, I haven't seen the message in question or the spam report, as they are sent to someone else, but I've flagged your messages as not spam. If someone is flagging messages as spam incorrectly, that's just as likely to result in one of the admin getting in touch with them. Clearly the messages in your inbox are private, but as you've probably noticed, for every message you receive there's an option to flag it as spam. That's what happened in this case, resulting in the temporary block as the message is reviewed (it's sent to one of us admin, not any of the moderators, and none of your other messages are visible). This is an extremely useful thing to have to help stop spammers in their tracks as they try and send out dozens of messages, but cases like this have occurred from time to time. As you can see, the blocks can be quickly removed too though.

Cool, I could wait. Actually, I dont ever get this spam culture. My friends are shocked that I know what an online forum is.

Can a member just block a another member from sending messages instead of reporting to the moderators? Well I look at my control panel.

Once someone reported that my thread is a spam. Spam is like a forwarded message, I assume.

We put this message in place in the message center because we've had occasions where a spammer (you know, the Nigerian type that says you've just won 10 million) started sending messages to users. Every message you get includes a link to block that user from sending more messages (have a look at an old message on the left hand side). To be honest, this is very rarely used, but when it is, it's quite effective to combat spam. When that's activated, it also notifies one of us admins of the message in question so we can see what's going on.

Post#1#....OP - Don't take it to heart. I've recently been given the fine uplift of 'Respected Member' status, but afterwards have been pulled down a cog or two by Admin. and Moderators for biting back at what I thought were nasty comments directed towards me.
I'm learning.

Hmm, this thread was quite dead being 2+ weeks old and the matter already resolved.
