The Australian Wiki travel guide states that, "unearthed evidence suggests, in contrary to popular belief, that the first European to visit Australia was Portuguese explorer Christopher de Mendonca"
Really? Who's re-writing history?
And since when is Sydneys Taronga Zoo "prestigious"?
Who writes this stuff?
Look, I can sit here drinking my glass of red wine and simply complain, or I can take action and do something about it.
......pours another glass......
Not sure who wrote that, but I was curious so dug a little deeper. Apparently it's a new theory doing the rounds. See news.com.au coverage here and Wikipedia entry here. I've changed the text in our guide up a little to make it a little more ambiguous and say that it's "controversial".
Regarding Taronga Zoo... Some people seem to rate it!
Hey, I think I wrote the Taronga Zoo part! Admittedly it's been 20 years since I visited Taronga Zoo, so maybe it's become a run-down dump and Melbourne Zoo has taken over.
C'mon James, get off the booze for a second and make some improvements
The last time I went there we took the kids, it ended up about 90 degrees in the shade, the animals were all inside asleep and we all ended up hot, tired, and cranky!
I think the only prestigous thing about it is the entry fee; for a family of four it's about a hundred bucks! Ouch!
