I think it's the apples' fault for allowing themselves to be on the plane in the first place:)

Quoting tway

Oh, and this has been bothering me since last week: How does it make any sense that I leave Canada with a Ziplock baggie full of carry-on liquids (as per Canadian norms), only to go through UK customs to be told the baggie is too BIG! Can't governments come to some sort of consensus about these things? I told the guard to keep my hand sanitizer and wet wipes... cheaper than buying the 1-pound replacement baggie!

I quite agree! When is the world going to realize that nail scissors are not a danger onboard. Going through security screening in Asia, I experienced different rules in every airport (at least I got to keep my shoes on most of the time!) My scissors, toothpaste and aloe vera gel were all confiscated in Thailand and Vietnam. Seems to me that a terrorist could easily conceal explosive gels in body cavities to pass screening? I personally don't have much confidence that such screening really protects the public at all.
