Hi,

I've been searching around the forums a lot (and looking in my LP book) about this but I haven't found any information that has been that helpful.

My friend and I are looking to spend 2-3 nights on one of these islands in early July and we would like to stay on the beach or within 5-10 minutes walking distance or within a short public bus ride (probably less than 1/2 an hour to the beach). However, I've had trouble finding much information on this.

So, does anyone know of any places, probably under 100 Euros a night, that are close to the beaches on any of these islands, that we can either get to with a bus or pretty cheap taxi from the airport, since we wont be renting a car? We plan on flying to any of these islands, not taking the ferries.

Or, if we stay in Palma de Mallorca, is it easy/fast to get to the beaches by public transport?

Any help is much appreciated!!
Thanks in Advance!

There are plenty of the big concrete soulless towers close to the beaches in the big resorts, and they will probably accommodate you for under 100 euros per night. If what you want is something with more charm, individuality and character, have a look at www.littlehotels-balearics.co.uk. Of course, the Balearics are not the cheapest destination but you will a find a few places there that fit your budget.

Why are you choosing taxis and buses rather than hiring a car? If you're only staying for 2 or 3 days the car hire will be cheaper than a taxi to and from your hotel, and you'll have all the flexibility and freedom to go where you want, when you want. With so little time on the island, you don't want to spend any of it scrutinising timetables or hanging around at bus stops.

Enjoy your holiday!

Thanks for the response! We cant rent a car because all of the reasonably priced rental cars are manual transmission and we only know how to drive cars with automatic transimissions..it's pretty unfortunate haha Otherwise, we'd love to rent a car..but that's why we're limited to places accessible by bus, or cheapish taxis.

Only two feet, so only two pedals, eh?

I just checked www.littlehotels.co.uk/carhire.php and a small three door with aircon comes up at about €86 - € 90 for three days in July, hired from Palma airport. The cheapest automatics are € 117 - € 124: still not a lot of money for the convenience and flexibility.

If you do follow it up, be sure to look for "Mallorca Airport" in the drop down list, not any other alternatives with "Palma" in them.
