I am looking for a cheap hotel in Bangkok but with good quality. Can anyone advise please? Looking to pay £15 ish per night as on a budget.
Also can anyone tell me about Ko San Road? Whats the fuss about.
Really young travelers on a tight budget who want to be around other young travelers seem to prefer Khao San Road.
My preference, slightly more mature old fart that I am, prefer the Sukhumvit Road area. I like the variety of life in that area. Just stopping at a cheap sidewalk bar around 10 pm (favorite spot is just down from the Miami Hotel) and having a couple beers is a great way to watch the circus go by! Drunks, hookers, tourists, elephants, beggars, touts, peanut salesmen, stinky squid sellers - lots of stuff to amuse and entertain.
No Skytrain stop in the KSR area.
Here is a link to the Sawasdee Hotel Chain with hotels in KSR.
Another KSR link:
Joel, here is a list of accom. in the khao san area that I put together last year (hence 2008 prices). Info sought from numerous websites. Virtually all listings recommended by other travellers.
