A bit of a weird question and don't know if it is even possible, but has anyone counted down to the new year in two seperate countries in the same 24 hours? I know when you fly from Australia to the US you usually arrive the same day that you departed Australia and would have thought that somewhere closer to the international date line might .

Is anyone aware of a place which celebrates the regular New Year in any major way and has flights that depart at such a time that you can have counted the new year in the first place and get the flight arriving at a major US City in time to count the same New Year in a second time? Would be pretty interesting to do if it is even possible.

It would be easiest near the date line, wouldn't it?

If you celebrated the New Year in Tonga, and flew to Samoa, you'd have pretty much a day to recover before celebrating again. I'm not sure how much the pacific islands are into New Year though.

I thought about that sort of thing, but like you say I wouldn't think they would be too in to New Years Eve like some much more heavily populated place like a Sydney or New York sort of thing where it really goes off. Not sure if you could get from somewhere like Tokyo to New York in the amount of hours between the New Year in both cities.
