Just heard it on the radio this morning on the way to town...

Snowblind Friend - Steppenwolf

It reminds me of a few friends who chose the same way out. :(

Perfect day ... it's the saddest song in my book..
Than goes Late Goodbye by Poets of the Fall.

Just added a sweet Nightdriver track from Fat Freddy's Drop called Dark Days Not the saddest song ever...but pretty grim.

Then there's A Place Called Home by Kim Richey....grim grim.

Nice 1.
I remember awhile back buying a Nick Drake album called 'Bryter Layter'.
There's a track on it called 'At The Chime Of A City Clock'. Heart rendering.
Incidentally, there's an existing open ended contract signed and endorsed by whichever company now owns Island Records, that Nick Drake's albums are never to be taken out of circulation. Quite a mean fete for a guy who popped his clogs in his early 20's, never really sold much beforehand - and he's still not the most hugely recognised artist.
Good stuff though.

I love Drake!!

'One of these things first' is a good intro, not so sad but beautiful, will ease you into the melancholy...

If you're talking sad songs from Nick Drake, you are talking his RIVER MAN. I just went out and bough Bryter Layter...Thanks for the lowdown

Bonnie Riatt's probably beats the whole lot...have you heard George Michael's version...tears me up every time I hear it.

Other than that the saddest song I've ever heard must be Jann Arden's I Would Die for You especially duet version with Sarah McLachlan...the melody is just heartbreaking. It was meant to be this happy love song according to Jann herself but when she first played it the other person said that was the msot depressing song they'd ever heard. I kinda agree with that person. While listening to it it feels like someone is literally ripping your heart out..ouch! Definately one of my favourites!!!

I'm sorry, You will beat me up over this one... But "Danny Boy".

I was with a bunch of Yanks in Ireland and they requested the song. I was tearing up. I actually had to explain to them this was based on a letter to her son, ( I have three boys), God love the Irish...and their "humour". (Saw "The Weir", when I was in London...and that's a comedy?) Gotta love the Irish!
