Hope they give you some sort of protection. I'm sure you're aware that there is no 100% remedy for preventing Malaria. The BBC had a report on TV earlier this week that there is a trial going on for possibly (just possibly) the first ever 100% Malaria preventative medicine. However, the trials and results won't be complete for another 2 years.
Hi guys thought Id drop a new post in this topic rather than starting a new one!!
I'm off to SE Asia a week today! (CANT WAIT :D)
But I have a couple of questions that hopefully fellow travellers who have been to SE Asia will know answers to! I will be travelling Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia for 5 weeks and have a supply of doxycycline tablets!
However I have now been told by someone that you can not drink alcohol whilst on the tablets is this true? I really hope its false because although I wasn't planning on getting wasted when I'm away I was looking forward to a beer or 4 some evenings when relaxing!
Another question is how do people cope with the extra sun sensitivity, I am hoping that covering up with sun screen at factor 30 will be enough?
And lastly what are the best products to buy out there that help prevent mozzies and other flying attackers?
Alright! I also fly to SE Asia a week today! Next Tuesday..
I havent heard anything about not drinking alcohol while taking them. It wasn't listed on the container and the doctor never mentioned it, unlike the sensitivity of the sun...
Apparently wearing a high factor suncream is the best way, although i have read reviews where the majority have said it didn't affect them.
And the mozzie spray is meant to be much better out there than here. So definately just buy it out there. Im sure there all much the same! Have a good time
