Can anyone tell me the approximate cost of taking a taxi from Bangkok airport to town, to the Rachadapisek Road area.
And are taxis cheaper than the airport limo?

Thanks in advance

Taxis are cheapest, but walk outside with your bags and get the local ones at the stand, rather than arranging one inside the terminal building - these are about 5-600 Baht, whereas the ones are outside are more like 300.

Agree with stevieh....

Another option is to go on third floor to departure hall stand and catch the taxi that drop off passenger there. No surcharge as they have to hurry out either. Fare should be around Baht 250 - 300 per way.

Shuttle bus also available..cheaper than taxi..
Check more info at

But it's not pass ratchadapisek. I guess.

Can you also tell me how far Mor Chit Bus Station is from the airport? I'm planning to go straight to Pattaya via bus.

You can catch a minibus direct from the airport to Pattaya. It costs 200baht and you can also get dropped off at your hotel for an extra 50baht. The bus leaves at 9am,12 noon and 7pm daily. It is a Thai Airways minibus.

I'm arriving at 12:30PM which is a little too late for the second bus but too early for the last one. Hiring a metered taxi to Pattaya will cost me around 1,500. A bit steep for a budget traveler so I guess I'm not taking that option.

Then you can hire taxi meter to the nerest sky train ( Mo Chit ) station and then go to Ekamai to take bus to Pattaya. Cost should be around 150 - 250/person/way. I am not sure of the fare but it's better than taking a taxi meter directly to Pattaya.

Now here's my next question. I understand that there are two stations for buses going to Pattaya. Considering cost and travel time, which one should I go to? Mor Chit or Ekkamai?

Should I:

1. Take a cab from the airport to Mor Chit bus station and get a bus there to Pattaya?

2. Take a cab from the airport to Mor Chit BTS station, ride the BTS to Ekkamai, get a bus from Ekkamai to Pattaya?

3. Take a cab from the airport and go straight to Ekkamai bus station then get a bus at Ekkamai to Pattaya?

As I am arriving at Don Muang at 12:30PM, what time would I reach Pattaya?

  1. 1 Metered taxis, caught from out the front of arrivas are cheaper than the limos. There is a 50B surcharge. To Ratchada I'd guess 150-200B before tolls (depending on traffic and what part of Ratchada you're headed to.

  1. 2 Buses to Pattaya leave more frequently from Ekamai. Depending on how much luggage you have either cab to Morchit,BTS to Ekamai then bus, else cab straight to Ekamai. As pointed out by another reply, you can just get a cab to Pattaya. More expensive but quick - depending on traffic, maybe just 2.5 hous from Airport to Pattaya.

  1. 3 Morchit is about a 15-30 minute cab ride from the irport depending on traffic.

  1. 4 Another option is getting an airport bus (100B) which will take you close to Ekamai.

Hope that helps

If I were you, i would take a cap on arrival hall to Mochit BTS station. This cost around Baht 200 ( more or less due to traffic ) and take BTS ( should be around Baht 45 - 50 per person per way ) and then catch a bus to Pattaya at Ekamai. This would be fast and economic way. Since the time of your arrival is mid day and normally traffic is very congestic.

So taxi direct to Ekamai is not recommend.
