Hi guys

In need of some advice on my travelling in 4 months time. I am going to Thailand for 1 month, Loas for 2 weeks, Cambodia for 2 weeks followed by Vietnam for one 1 month. Then i will going bk to Thailand for one month.

I am budgeting about £2500 for this part of the trip. Is this enough for 4 months?

£2500 sounds good to me. However it completely depends on what you plan to do during that time.

My Rough Guide suggests that you budget for:

Basic US$15 a day
Occasional treat US$25-$30

It can be hard to advise as every traveller has different Ideas of what he/she wants to do. You should buy yourself a guidebook on SE Asia.

Budgeting for accomadation is easy. I just browse through hostels on hostelbookers.com. You can decide what level of accomadation suits you and work out an average cost for that level of accomadation.

Food in Cambodia, for example, can cost less than $1 in foodstalls & markets. In Khmer restaurants a dish can cost $1.50-$3 and in Western restaurants can cost anywhere between $3-$10

Like I said before you really should get a guidebook if you haven't allready. This will tell you for instance that a pass for the Angkor Wat Temples will cost $20 for a day pass/ $40 for 3 days & $60 for 7 days.

For me the planning is part of the fun.......Hope you enjoy!!

that sounds more than enough! i spent £400 a month whilst travelling through these places and i didn't really have to worry about what i was spending or spending it on!

Thats great

£2500 seems a good amount to have fun and relax on for 4 months then/

Does anyone know where my main costs will be?

Which of the 4 South east asia countries is the cheapest and most expensive?

Can anyone help me with general costs, ie accomodation, food etc.

Thanks so much for your replies so far.

Sorry but did you not read my post?? Didn't I already answer this?

Get yourself a guidebook (they're only £16). And in the meantime check out hostellbookers for accomadation. Dont worry about food it will be cheap like I said above. Your main costs will be accomadation, Transport, food & attractions.

i found Laos to be the most expensive place generally half again on thailand...but its hardly gona break your budget, instead of it costing £1-2 for a main course meal in a resaurant its 1.50-2.50. Cambodia is the same if not cheaper than thailand and i didn't get as far as viet nam but i hear its the cheapest of the lot, some Aussies told me they were getting 7 bottles of beer to $1AUS...good times. Alcohol is in relative terms expensive in SEA with a beer costing the same as your main course meal but its still only a quid!
