Hey me and my friend travel out to america june 30th and we still need to finalise accomodation in Boston and New York. Just wondering if people can point me in a good direction for hostels to stay in and what sort of rates should we expect to pay?

The hostel we were considering staying in Boston was the Hostels International one near fenway park and the total price we were quoted was:

$240 staying from June 30th checking out on 3rd July

Has anyone had experience of stayin in this hostel, is it in a good location, convenient for nightlife etc?

Also if anyone could recommend good accomodation in New York. Looking more so towards a hostel as we are hoping to get a good price. I got 1 quote for central park hostel as a friend has previously stayed there and it came back at $320 for the 2 of us staying for 5 nights.

(I thought this wasnt too bad considering we will be staying for independance day as well)

Any advice / suggestions appreciated. Many Thanks.

Boston International might have the best rates from what you got especially since it's high season. it is a bit north of the action, but it's easy to get around.

for new york, that is about right. there are cheaper places on HostelsClub.com but you would have to read the comments on them to get an idea of what you can deal with as far as bare necessities. the nicest place which is a hostel is in NYC and good location (harlem area isn't dangerous but a bit north) is L Hostel and HI-NYU.
