Hi,
You're certainly not slumming it!!!
The excusive enclave of Nusa Dua or Jimbaran Bay. Definetly not the real Bali if you stay at any of those areas.
I would cancel them both, book 3 nights in a bungalow at the Rama Beach Hotel, Tuban then have 3 or 4 nights at Coconut Beach Resort, Nusa Lembongan then back to Rama Beach to finish off.
If you want to go a bit more upmarket, stay at the BaliHai Holiday Inn which is a 1 minute walk from the Rama Beach Hotel and is right on the beach.
I know Tuban and Kuta pretty well, having been there 6 times in the past 10 years.
Coconut Beach Resort on Nusa Lembongan is fantastic.
The Pantai restaurant is a 2 minute walk from Rama Beach or BaliHai, and is right on the beach with great views.
I have photos of these places on my profile.
Enjoy Bali.
Are you going to Ubud, Uluwatu, Tanah Lot?

Sorry,
Forgot to give you samples of my suggestions.

I'm not advocating using these sites to book, merely showing you where I would stay if I were going to Bali soon.
I'm off on a 4 month RTWT end of january, taking in South America, Cuba, Mexico, the good old USA (Gettysburg a must), Madrid, Rome, Bangkok and home.
God I love travelling!!!
Enjoy
I suggest u to stay any resorts at Nusa Dua...
it's really great.. all the resorts over there are beautiful..
Jimbaran is not really nice place to stay..
u can just make a half day trip to there at night for seafood dinner but guess not really worth of staying.
The reasons for Indonesia's popularity among tourists are obvious: its volcanic peaks are stunning; its beaches, ideal; its culture, proudly kept alive; and its people are devoutly religious (be they Muslim, Hindu, Buddha, or Christian).
