campervanning in Australia for a month is a grat idea and very economical. check out www.backpacker.com.au for the best prices on reliable vehicles. we hired a Britz campervan and they are great but a bit more expensive

There are loads of companies renting small 2 berth campers, which are more like converted people carriers. Check out Spaceships and Jucy rentals and travellers auto barn and see what works out best for your situation. You can get different extras and insurance options. This is what we are planning to do next year. Our only concern is not meeting many people while out there. Like we would in hostels and on a bus.

Don't worry, if you stay at caravan parks or campgrounds you'll meet heaps of people.
Check out the 'sticky' for TP members meeting in Sydney for New Year's Eve.
Cheers,
Keith
