has anyone ever taken a bus from Cairns or Townsville to Broome?? I know its prob a few days travelling and a few buses but thinking of doing it. Flying is too expensive so hoping the bus will be a better option........

It definitely can be done, but being on a bus for the whole time would be rather boring I think .
Are you planning to stay in Darwin for a few days on the way to Broome, or do you really want to travel all the way at once?
If you stay in Darwin, maybe try and get a lift with other travellers in a campervan. I travelled with 4 other girls from Darwin trough the Kimberleys to Broome and must say this part of Australia is really beautiful and unique. It's fairly easy to hitch a lift (paying for petrol in most cases), just look around the hostels and I'm sure you'd be able to find some offers.
Don't miss out on Karajini National Park on the way, it's fantastic!

This would be a very ordinary trip mate. Sitting in a bus and experiencing nothing unless you are lucky enough to get some good advice along the way.

Just a question that I would like to ask you and anyone else who may stumble across this. How much would you pay to travel from Cairns to Broome via Darwin with an Aussie Couple (M and F - nothing weird lol) Both Ex Aussie Soldiers of 10yrs +, who know the area well. Who could take you camping in swags, fishing for Barra, abseiling in some amazing gorges, have a few beers with the locals, learning about the real Australia, survival tips and tricks etc etc in a couple of well equipped 4wd's. With a small group of like minded backpackers (no more than 3 passengers per vehicle - any more would be too crowded)

Could include side trips like the Kimberly's, Kakadu, and heaps of other amazing places that only the locals know...

Give me a price you would be willing to pay????? Not what you would expect to pay.. On lets say between 2 weeks and a month. Because you could very easily fill a month.

As you can maybe see, I am planning to get out of the Army with my wife and we are considering starting something along this line and your suggestions would be very valuable in allowing us to give travelers to what they want and can afford.

Cheers.. Look forward to hearing your reply
