We are in the middle of planning to travel around Europe from August 2009 to early 2010. We are looking for any information regarding free campsites that allows caravans. Any information is welcome!
We are planning to travel into France, then Spain and work our way round.
Thanks for your help in advance.
No free campsites afaik. Moreover, you can't camp outside a campsite in most of Europe, especially not with a caravan. You're likely to be fined if you do it. Im afraid you're going to have to budget for accommodation
Actually there are a few designated free caravan parking sites in German cities. The emphasis is on parking sites, not camping sites - it is usually a place of concrete to park the caravan but no other facilities. I have such a caravan parking site not too far from my home, I would say it is ok for a night or two. But in Germany it is usually no problem to park your caravan somewhere in the city, as long as your are not in a "parking forbidden" zone and are discreet nothing will happen.
