Looking for buddies to travel with before and after meditation retreat in Kathmandu. Want to trek in OCT 09, mediate in NOV 09, and then head down through India and SE Asia the next year. Best case scenario would be that I end up in Australia and pick up work for a while in order to continue the journey through the rest of the year.

Is anyone thinking about a similar trip??

Hi Nellie2U
Myself and 3 or 4 friends are planning to visit Nepal the last 2 weeks of October for the Everest base camp trek. We already have a company running treks in Nepal so have all our guides and porters to hand. This is not a client trip but more for us!
I am likely to be spending another month in Nepal, India & hopefully Pakistan after that.
Likely to be arriving in Nepal via the Friendship highway from Lhasa Tibet.
I am sure you'd be welcome to join our group.

I'll be there from Oct to Dec. At least that's the plan for now. Stay in touch and see how we go.

Its your trekking company?

Cool, we'll know our plans better nearer the time.
The trekking company we have is for paying clients, this trip is for myself and some friends wanting to visit Everest BC. On these trips we just share the cost of the porters and guides eually between teh people in the group., paying local prices of course!

Snowrat!

I would love to join! Been looking for some folks to trek independently with as opposed to an expensive trekking company,,sounds perfect. I haven't purchased my ticket as of yet, may even be interested in joining you for your journey arriving into Nepal via Friendship highway if you are interested in adding another. What kind of costs would I be looking at with the Everest trek? Where are you leaving from?

Hi Nellie2U
We will be leaving from Kathmandu, fly to Lukla and then trek for around 10 days before flying back from Lukla to KTM. Without the flights it adds about another week to the trip and the flights are very cheap.
Not sure what the trekking costs will be, but expect we are doing a tea house trek, which keeps the costs down (no need for extra porters to carry food and camping equipment). The trekking costs will be the cost price that we pay as a company which per person is minimal. Can you let you know more accurately later. We also get to choose the best and most fun guides!

I am planning on getting from Laos to Chengdu in China overland and then fly to Lhasa before taking a Friendship Highway jeep (I have done all this before in reverse). If I have to make my trip shorter will skip Laos and Thailand, possibly doing a different itinerary in Tibet, starting and returning to KTM. This would mean everythign would be based from KTM and then India afterwards.

It's all in the planning stage now so lets keep in touch and see what we end up with!

Edit: I will be travelling alone (others welcome to join) apart from those last 2 weeks in October when friends are coming to Nepal for the EBC trek.
