hi deb
how many days have you got in nz ? Sometimes if you have a limited amount of time like 15 days and your doing a 12 day pass you are going to be spending a lot of time on the bus.
Due to the fact that they are not running everyday now due to winter.Let me know how many days you have and i can
work out one of the passes for you.
cheers stu:)

This question gets asked a fair bit - type 'Kiwi Experience' in the search box and a fair few threads will come up -
here's one as an example.

If you're thinking about a group tour, you should check out Magic Bus, Stray and Flying Kiwi as well as Kiwi Experience.

Kiwi seems to be the 18 year olds bus, i took the Magic bus and if its anything like that then your really just using the bus to get from A to B and its up to you if you wish to join in with activities and nights out at the locations/hostels. Magic was a mixed age group and a lot of european people. Stray is a smaller company with slightly different routes to Magic and Kiwi. As for flying Kiwi they are tour groups so you spend x amount of days with the same group. Think they are more expensive.

Check on their websites as with Magic we got a full pass for a half price. Also buses dont run everyday so check timetables.

its a common question and kiwi experience is certainly known as more of an 18-30s style trip. magic and stray as mentioned, are other options that attract a slightly older crowd and do put more focus into doing activities aswell as the party side. as mentioned though they do just get you from a to b at the end of the day so other options like the intercity flexi-pass are worth checking out as they offer a simlar and veryy competitive service. also if there are two of you a car or campervan migh work out quite good value but just means a lot more planing/organising etc as your travelling round.
with two of you it might also be worth trying to bargain some deals with the operators - its always good for them to get two bookings at once and although they dont advertise it no harm in asking for a discount.
i work with flying kiwi and although trip costs are higher upfront you have got your meals, accommodation, transport etc covered (and good big meals too as opposed to the standard super noodle travelling diet) and they have sports gear on board (boy boards, cricket sets etc) you can use for free - the trips work out around $NZ90 a day.
hope that helps and enjoy the craic
