First visit to forum and Australia.

We were planning to spend time in Queensland flying in on 15th December. We were wanting to see Great Barrier Reef, Whitsundays etc but I understand weather will be wet and humid.

We can fly into Cairnes or Brisbane so would it be better if we flew to Brisbane and just concentrated on the coast round there. I assume that we will miss the Barrier Reef but is the weather likely to be drier in Brisbase ?
We have not set plans except to be in Sydney by 24th December

Fly into Cairns, it is likely to be very humid but may not rain. DO NOT miss the Great Barrier Reef why not then rent a campervan and run down the coast to Sydney. If you need a price check out either Britz.com.su or Backpacker.com.au it is so much fun ,even if you flew from Cairns to Brisbane and drive down the coast from Brisbane to Sydney that is so cool and gorgeous beaches through the summer.

I really wouldnt miss the barrier reef even in the humid season and also the whitsunday islands they were probaly my favourite places in oz, with fraser island being a close third

You may want to look into taking some internal flight there pretty cheap jetstar and virginblue are two ..
