i'm maria a spanish girl who lives in scotland. i'm fliying to delhi at the end of june, and i'll be in india during july and august.

a quick summing up...i was planning to go north to kashmir, or maybe rajastan if is not too hot. i'd like to croos to nepal and then go down again to india and go along the ganges, varanasi ,agra, and back to delhi... from where i'll fly out again

so do you think is a good idea, or should i do the circle the other way round, starting with agra, ganges... to try to escape the monzoon, or the cold in the mountains?

or do you have any other suggestions?

thanks a lot

M.

July/August is the rainy season in most of India except for the Trans-Himalayan areas and Rajasthan and some parts of central India...

I believe, u should go straight up the hills from Delhi covering Shimla, Manali and then i would suggest u to take the epic 2 day trans himalayan journey from Manali-Leh. Manali-Leh road is only open from July-mid October and the trip is organised by government tourism department, so it is reliable and safe. Overnight accomodation is provided in a tent at Keylong. Once u reach Leh, u can take excursions to PAngong Lake and Nubra Valley or indulge in trekking activites.

Returning from Leh, u can continue to Rajathan and Agra and Varansasi and onwards to Nepal. Nepal has heavy rains, so if u r going by road to Nepal, be preapred for slippery roads and landslides on the way.

U can follow either route and it will not be cold in the hills during the month of July and August.

Do let me know if u need any specific info:)

Cheers
Arif

PS If possible take the return flight from a different city like Kolkata or Mumbai so that u can cover more places!!
