Hi all, my gf and I are planning a 12 month trip to Australia, starting in Sydney. Our plan is to buy a campervan, travel around, then try to sell it in Sydney about 12 months later.

Could someone help us with the process of buying a campervan in Australia, is it similar to the UK? What would we need to do to transfer ownership and renew our rego? What about insurance, is it worth getting fully comp? Is it possible to get fully comp with no fixed address?

Sorry for so many questions but any information on how it all works would be great. Thanks a lot.

click on to www.backpacker.com.au and look for second hand campervans. that should info for you there. BUt yes you have to do a change of ownership form and pay stamp duty in NSW anyway. Insurance will depend on your age. The mandatory insurances are built into your registration fee.

oh by theway it is always worth geting a check over by a mechanic because if you have to re register the vehicle will have to go over the pits to be deemed road worthy before a mechanic givesyou a pink slip for youto take to register the car.
