We are doing a three week camping road trip in Spain this summer and am keen to find out any suggestions (we know it will busy so keen to find out about the smaller towns that may be more a local experience and less tourists is possible??)
We fly to Barcelona, drive across the northern coast to check out the beaches, San Seb, Santander, Salamanca (we know these will be very very busy) .... open to suggestions here (not keen to get to Madrid in heat of summer so will prob pass below it) across to Valencia etc before going up to Barcelona for flight home again.
Any towns/sights that may be around this route please let us know... especially after we start to leave the beaches... also and free or cheap camping places would be of use too!
Please send tips, suggestions, comments and must-sees for us to check out....
hi why go down to barcelona when better to go direct to north coast santanda san seb costa brava is ok but is not good for camping hotel geared hope this helps
ps seville good but far south and very very hot june/july
This will be a little vague but the only recommendation I can give you is that once you've finished with the beaches, cities and towns along the coast just drive inland and heat for the heart of Los Picos de Europa.
I did this last year with no plans in mind and everything worked out just great.
Once you get into the mountains you'll be surprised at how many little mountain villages have camping grounds and the staff at the Tourism Rural offices are fantastic.
Try this website, it may help.
If you have any specific questions you can send me a personal mail and I can dig through my notes to recommend specific towns, sights, places to visit and places to avoid etc...
