Hi, can anyone point me in the direction or give me some advice of volunteering in SA, particularly, argentina, chile, bolivia, peru or columbia. I'm interested in spending a few weeks volunteering at the start of 2010. i'm particular interested in Widlife/ eco volunteering.

many thanks,

Hey,

I met someone who worked at a monkey sanctuary somewhere near Cordoba in Argentina. It sounded really interesting. Unfortunately, I dont have any specifics on the name of the organization but maybe you could do a bit of googling and find it?

Whilst doing some research for my own South America Trip, I came across a company called i-to-i I haven´t actually organised anything with them for myself as yet, but all the people I´ve spoken to about them have loved their experiences. If nothing else this website might be a good place to get some ideas about where you want to go and what you want to do.

Hope this is some help!

Thanks Koala Girl, i'm actually moving to Australia after my SA trip, how long is your trip to SA, i'm hoping for at least 3 months. Hows the job market in OZ these days?

I went to South America 3 years ago with a company called Quest Overseas and did a three week language course followed by a month conservation in the rainforest and then 6 weeks travelling the continent. Best three months ever!
It does depends what kind of volunteering you are looking to do whether it is working with children, community work, conservation e.t.c You definatly need to make sure you are going with a worthwhile organisation that are not in it for the profit.
Check www.ethicalvolunteering.org for all the questions you should ask a company before choosing,
Good luck !
