if there is a bar in old city that is showing it, go there. old city is definitely one of the best parts of philly. if not then go with my original decision...as you would just have to walk a mile down market street or hop on the subway

I wish I could suggest you go to manayunk because of the great nightlife but for the life of me I can't think of an easy way to get out there or a place to stay while you're out there.

Hi sheps, if you go to ufcbars it will show you all of the bars in pennsylvania that show the ufc. It looks you've got a couple of options for philly. Unless you like strip clubs, your best bet would be Glam Restaurant & Lounge in Old City down on 2nd Street between Market and Chestnut. The Broad Street line of the subway will take you right to 2nd and Market. This is a pretty cool area to go out in with tons of bars and restaurants with a good vibe. Anywhere on 2nd and 3rd between Chestnut and Race Street will have lots of nightlife in the area. Just ask around, anyone can point you in the direction of something good. I wouldn't recommend driving as parking is always a bitch in this neck of the woods. Otherwise, Delilah's and Club Risque are showing down on Delaware Ave (both topless bars). I'm from Philly too and used to live in Old City for several years, so feel free to ask any questions about the area. Good luck and enjoy!

Cheers, I've had a look on the link you provided and it lists quite a selection of bars :) I think we may try down somewhere in old city to watch it. As you said its a pretty cool area so we can go out for drinks after the event. As we'r in Philly for a few days I think we will definately try and hav a night out in this area of town.

Thanks for your advice so far.

Could you suggest any good places to stay in philadelphia? Also other points of interest and things to see.

Cheers

I got you covered:

there are a dozen cool spots right on 2nd street you'll see. just pick one.

there is the Bank Street hostel on a tiny street called... bank street. right off of market between 2nd and 3rd

there is a ice cream place right around there too. it's called frankiln fountain. you gotta go there. it's right on market street. good stuff.

sunny's cheese steaks are amazing. they're right there on market between 2nd and 3rd. order a "whiz wit" (with onions) or a "whiz widdout" (no onions) this goes for any cheese steak place.

you can walk to south street in ten minutes. there are tons of shops on south street but it has become a bit corporate over the years. There are some good restaurants there too.

get to 9th street, and walk south:

look out for the italian markets on 9th and washington. buy food there.

also on ninth is Ralphs, a real good family run Italian restaurant on 9th and Catherine. definitely eat there. they've been around for a hundred some years. it's a really nice place!

keep walking on 9th until you hit pat's and gino's. two cheese steak places right next to each other. It's an interesting Atmosphere. but don't order anything! they are over priced small sandwiches for tourists.

I also recommend taking the subway underneath broad street down to the stadiums to see a phillies game, that new stadium is awesome it's like a big bar! you can just hang out and stand around. great way to meet people. I went twice recently and barely even watched the games.

Thanks Booby G, would you advise to arrive a few hours early for the event to make sure we get a decent seat? Also Is there other nightlife close by i.e. clubs & other bars?
