I'm planning on getting a TEFL certification in Prague this winter, and then doing some travelling/working around Europe (hopefully) and maybe SE Asia. Found this site when searching for information on Schengen Visas, and it seems like a pretty good resource for travellers. Just though I'd sign up and maybe make some cross-cultural-type connections or some new e-friends or at least view humorous pictures of other peoples' drunken escapades through far-off lands.

Hi knayte - and welcome. I'm relatively new here myself.
I've been considering TEFL but have been put off certification because of course and accommodation costs here in the UK. So if you don't mind me asking - how much is the course costing you in Prague and are the accommodation costs reasonable? I'm assuming it's either a CELTA or Trinity.
I'm actually leaning towards TEFL Worldwide Prague. I've looked at Trinity as well as Language House, and they both seem to be reputable outfits. The main reason I'm considering TEFL Worldwide is that a friend of a friend took the course and vouched for it. (I know, i know...friend of a friend? But, the first friend is someone I trust and who has worked internationally before). I haven't actually applied yet; I'm going to wait about another month or so. By then I'll know for sure if I will be able to save enough money to fund this little excursion. If you have any more information about programs in Prague or anywhere else, I'm all ears!
EDIT: Forgot about the costs. Tuition for the course is 1300 Euros, housing is about 300 Euros. Seems roughly comparable to similar programs in Prague,

300 euros is pretty good for housing (I'm assuming 4 weeks) though tuition fees seem about the same as UK.
Like you, I'm still not decided. I was even thinking doing the CELTA in SE Asia - expensive ticket, but cheap living and I'd be right in the middle of it to start straight away - but my latest thoughts are to go to S.E.A and just have a go somewhere first. Who knows, I might not even like it, but at least I get a holiday.
