sorry ive been quiet - found myself without interest for the past few weeks unexpectedly! I see time is moving fast (unlike Tim at the moment ) and we have already started flying out! Good stuff - hope you all had a great flight and for those still in the UK, im sure the time is flying just as fast for you as it is for me! Leaving in 29 days
You are coming at the wrong time of year for Aussie Rules or NRL as both are mainly winter sports. The AFL (Aussie Rules) season ends on the last Sunday in September and doesn't start until about Late February to Early March with the pre-season matches. In Sydney they are not really all that in to the Aussie rules like they are in Victoria it is more NRL in Sydney. If cricket doesn't bore you senseless the Test Match between Australia and Pakistan begins in Sydney at the SCG on 03 January 2010 so not sure if you will be one of those who will still be in Sydney then but that might be a chance to see some sport while in Australia.
thanks a lot harrold, as a i said really sorry to be missing out on the rugby league but hell will be sure to check out the cricket! Is the football popular down there?
Take it easy
just sayin hey and that i cannot wait to go now! leaving late Nov, have just got back from Ibiza hence no posting but its just whetted my appettite to get going!!
NY IS GONNA BE BIG!
hey paul, NY is gonna be wicked! how was ibiza? i went in june and was the best week of my life lol, spent alot of £'s. when are you arriving in aus? and for how long you coming?
Ibiza was banging man! spent a shedload...will defo be in sydney for new year and see how long i last, and enjoy it, leaving it pretty open, looking at flying late November i think, how about you?
Paul - Yeah money seemed to evaporate in that place lol. Im arriving in sydney on the 23rd dec for the TP meet up, but will be travelling down the east coast with my girlfriend from the end of october.
Mike - I am well up for watching some sports in aus so if any is on over xmas and ny should get a few of us and go watch. Aussie rules, Rugby, Football (do they call it soccer aswell?) cricket anything where people break a sweat.

Cricket will be on that time of year and it will be on in Sydney for a Test Match starting on 3rd January. Other than cricket which will be every second day or there abouts, the sport in Australia will be pretty limited. FYI what people in the UK call football is soccer in Australia. The only people in Australia that call Soccer football are those that are real fanatics and don't watch Aussie Rules. Usually when someone in Australia that hasn't got a UK accent mentions football or footy they are referring to Aussie Rules, but you'll probably avoid those words in your time here over christmas/New Year. If you are here in February to March sort of time frame when the pre-season of the AFL starts you may hear it more.

Hey everyone......think I might be a little on the late side here but keep changing my plans! I was due to come out to Oz in Feb but think I mite come out earlier and would love to get there for new years!!! I have read bits of the thread but too long to read all (sorry!), so if anyone can let me know an outline of the plan and if u even have any more spaces for one more!!!
10 DAYS TILL WE FLY OUT!!
hey! maybe looking at getting there a bit earlier? would that be ok? and on my own! arriving in sydney Wednesday December 16th at 0825!!! can i camp from this date into new year? would be a real help if possible!!!
let me know if can do...
Should be fine if you arrive early (16th Dec). Are you on your own or with someone?
I'm off work for a few days so the best option for you is to send an email to us. I can't post the email address here but you can find it on our website, www.lcrtp.com.au The email address starts with lccp.
Tell them your situation and that you're with the TravellersPoint group on the U sites. Mention my name (Keith), and they should put you on a site I have put aside for the group.
You will need to advise them of credit card details so we can hold a site for you. The credit card is just to hold the site and you pay when you arrive.
Alternatively, you can book online through our website at www.lcrtp.com.au
I haven't posted anything here for a while but I have been trying to keep up to date
See you the 16th,
i am travelling alone now yes, but hey, all part of the experience! there are plenty of others doing the same by the sounds of it!
Hey Paul. And everyone else!
And for the moderators of the forum: Just confirming prices for everyone in the group, I'm trying NOT to promote us
Because you're travelling on your own you might be better off staying at a hostel until the group arrives around the 23rd.
A campsite with us is the same price for one as it is for two ($34 per night). With the group it will be less per person, per night. $34 per night for the site for two people and $10 per night each additional person.
Example: 4 people will cost $54 per night ($13.50 each). 6 people will cost $74 per night ($12.33 each) probably about 8 people per site maximum ($11.75 each, per night).
So, the more people the cheaper it becomes. And the weekly discount still applies.
As I said, check out hostel prices for the days you need before joining the group.
You personally won't need to book independently with us for the period from the 23rd of December. I'll just throw you in with the group!
If there is anyone else that intends to join the group (that we don't already know about) from the 23rd or later, we will need to know very, very soon. Otherwise you'll miss out. We are booked out for Christmas/New Year but there is still a few spots available with the TP group.
