Travel Forums North America Help!!!! Traveling America and Canada from 11th November

Hi all

I've done something a bit silly and booked myself on the QM2 leaving 11th November and then a ship back on the 18th April.

I planned to travel around America for 3 months then go to Canada for the remaining time before going back to New York to get my ship home.

I thought the problem of only having a 90 day visa would be solved by going into Canada for a while but have been told this is still American land and wont let me be over there for so long :-( Ive already booked the ships and paid - can anyone help?

I have a massive phobia of flying so planed to interail around.

eeek am i SCREWED?

Can i get to South America and then come back into North?

Any other travelers going without flying?

Hi. I don't know who told you that Canada was "still American land". Canada is a seperate country- always has been- with its own visa rules. As for getting around by rail... you'd be better off renting a car, or taking the bus in most places, as rail travel in North America is limited and expensive.

To get to South America without flying, you would have to go overland, through Mexico and Central America- but you'd still have to fly a short distance, as there is an impassable gap in the highway, in Panama. Anyways, that would take far too long. Better to just stay in Canada and the U.S.

They only meant it's part of North America, not the USA (Mexico is also part of N. America)

Just one ? - Why are you coming in winter? Not our very best of seasons!
