I was just thinking about traveling and digital cameras. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for the best digital cameras for traveling. Things like durability, water resistance, size, and picture quality are all considerations. Right now I use a Fuji FinePix A700. I have no idea how it compares to other digital cameras, it was what the guy in the store recommended. Therefore if anyone has any suggestions I would be happy to hear them!
I have had a Sony Cybershot DSC-W55 (and Sony A300) for about 4 years now. Never had any problems with it. Sturdy cheap decent camera. Have a look online, nothing but great reviews.
Also, might be worth checking out the photography forums on here. Probably the best place to post in all honesty.
I would go with one of the Olypmus, stylus cameras. I have the 770SW version, all metal and its great. I have taken it into the Dead Sea, snorkling in Egypt, to 21,000 feet in Nepal, and dropped it down a flight of marble stairs in Jerusalem. It is has performed like a champ. It did exactly what it was made for, and it takes some great pictures as well. All of this is a reason to buy this camera but one of the best is the price. I paid about $220 for this 2 yrs ago. BUY IT!!!!
