Can anyone please help with my query. My Grandfather came from the Pearl River Delta, Guangdong. An Uncle told me (over the phone) that the place was called (sounds like) saa-teen? He didn't know how it was spelt. Does anyone know what the real name is or where it is. He did say that he had caught a bus which stopped at a place called 'Foo-waa' and that the village (Saa-teen) was about 20-30 minutes away.

I hope to go there soon, and urgently need to find this out so that I can book hotels, visa etc.

Thanks heaps.:)

I'm not sure this is the one you're looking for, but there's a Sha Tin in Hong Kong, which is also in the Pearl River Delta.

Hi,

There is a small town called "Fuwan", on the banks of the widest branch of the Pearl River (Xi Jiang). It is just north of a small city called Gaoming Qu, which is just north of Heshan (a larger city). But I don't see any village called "Saa-teen" nearby, sorry.

Can your uncle tell you any other landmarks?

Thank you so for your reply mad poet. The place I was looking for was Shekki, the capital? of Zhongshan and Foo-waa, is a hotel called FuHua. Now, all I have to do is find the village called "Die-chong?" or Daa-chong? This is 20 - 30 minutes south of Shekki? I think. I am seriously considering learning how to speak Cantonese. My poor Uncle is so patient with me. :)

Another question is, does anyone know the easiest and cheapest way to get from Hong Kong to Zhangshan?
