I'm using these maps a lot to plot my current journey. It would be cool if I could put the map in my actual post for the part of the trip being mapped. Google gives me a huge block of text to copy and paste to get my map onto my blog but when I post, I get a block of text, not a map. Not very illuminating at all. I've seen others with google maps on their blogs: how is it done?
The maps embedded in Travellerspoint blogs aren't Google maps I'm afraid. I see you do have a Travellerspoint map though, so why don't you embed that? When creating a blog entry, just click on the MAP button at the top of the entry (next to IMG I believe). That'll bring up a pop up and you can choose to either zoom in on where you are or just embed the whole trip. Another benefit is that you can auto-link your blog and map then by having the correct dates in both. Plus, if dates are in the future, the line is automatically dotted till you've actually travelled the stretch.
The only way to tie in a Google map currently is to just put a link to the Google map, like you would link elsewhere. Click on the link option on your Google map and copy the one at the top, rather than the embed code.
We will be offering something using Google maps in the not too far future, but even then the mapping will actually have to happen on Travellerspoint for it to work. The existing Travellerspoint maps will all be ported over to the new system, so if you bear with us here and map your travels here, it will automatically move over when the switch is made!
