How would you define a sex tourist?

Try accusing someone of being a sex tourist. Its really funny. Especially, when they get really defensive.

Its vague... or I thought it wasn't. Do you talk about sex with other travellers? Lets say you just met them for about 3 hours and you are with alcohol...

I'm not sure if I see the point of this thread. Semantic decomposition aside (at which level I agree with you that the term is rather funny), I believe most national legislations offer quite clear definitions of sex tourism, sex tourists and the circumstances in which either are punishable, whether in one's country of residency or in the country of perpetration.

I'm with Post#2#....bentivgoli - and their first sentence. Apart from that, I've nothing more to add.

Quoting bentivogli

I'm with bentivogli here and don't see the relevance of defining a sex tourist in a thread.
And accusing someone for fun of being a sex tourist sounds also rather pathetic to me.
For what reason are you coming up with such things?

There is no (relevant) point which is why this thread has been moved over (here) to OT.

Agreed.

As a (very sad) attempt to be provocative. (But, what else is new...)

I'm with Steff. If you accuse someone of being a sex tourist, exactly what kind of response are you hoping to get? A handshake? Some pointers?

An invite?

How would you define a sex tourist?

Someone whose main reason for visiting a place (eg Amsterdam) is the purchase of sex, rather than say the purchase of intoxicating substances, or sunbathing or visiting museums or taking photographs or whatever else.

pointless.

I'm not surprised people get defensive if you accuse them of being a sex tourist. People generally do get upset if you insult them.
