Hi!

I'm a single female traveller and heading to Costa Rica in November...i'm spending a couple of nights in San Jose before heading out to the Caribbean Coast, i'm just after some advice on accommodation in San Jose - i don't really know much about the city at all, i'd like to be quite central, not too expensive and somewhere where i can possibly meet similar single travellers etc.

Thanks in advance for any advice!
:)

you can try the hostel "Costa Rica Backpackers" i think thats what its called. I'll try to confirm it. But it's a big sprawling type hostel. I dont know how central it is since i didnt spend a lot of time in San Jose. But there was a lot of ppl there. I met plenty while travelling alone.

Hostel Pangea might be OK. Pretty central. However, San Jose is packed with low cost backpackers hostels and hotels, too many for listing here. The problem is that most of them don't have a website. Try hostelcasadelparque.com or amigosparalapaz.com
Just as a guideline.:)
