Ok, well, we'll have to let moutallica clear that one up.. I'm pretty sure Hien and I assume she would like something like at Webmasterworld (note the pages next to each thread).

Not a bad idea actually, I'm concerned it causes a bit of clutter and to me, the only posts I'd be interested in clicking to are the first and the last. If others think there is a need for pages in between, let me know. I'm always happy to add new features.

Cheers, Peter

p.s. tooltip has been added also..

Hehe... Sam, read this again.

Great updates, but would it be possible to be able to go directly to the last page (or any page) of a thread without having to go to the first page, and then choosing another page. Just have the page numbers as a link next to the topic.

Your understanding is not quite right, because to access the "page [1] 2 ยป NEXT Last Post" function as you have suggested, she needs to go to the first page first. (Read again the underlined quotes). ;)

As for the option to access to "any page", I would assume it as an option, since she said "or" and put the phrase in brackets. :)

I believe what she actually wanted is like what Peter has suggested, or like this one: http://www.communityserver.org/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=7

But I do agree with Peter that including the function in the current page design will somehow cluttered the page with too much information, and that it doesn't make much sense to list all the pages. How would I know or remember which page I'm supposed to go to? It's either I've been following the thread that I need to go to the last page, or I'm new to the thread so I need to start from the beginning. If I'm following halfway, then sorry, I'd just have to trace back where I left off. I don't think anybody would really memorise which page he/she left off. ;)

Anyway, I think there must be a use to that functionality, since almost every available web forums has it. If there really is a need to add that, I think Peter may have to re-organise the page a bit. The CommunityServer.org is a good one. I prefer showing "Replies" and "Views" fields at the end of the table columns, to what is being shown now. Having "Started by" and "Last Post" side by side is somehow "easier to see". ;)

Cheers,
Hien

Yes peter, you understand what i'm saying. The example you gave is what i was thinking of. Except the forums i have seen skip the middle pages (eg. 1,2,....,13,14). This is just an idea and not really too important, especialy if it involves too much work for you.

And Hien, your example works too. But by the way, i'm a guy (but don't worry about it).

Oops! Sorry about that.
I think I have mistaken you with someone else in the forums.

Hmm yeah, I think I assumed wrongly there too I think it's because we have quite a few canadian females on the site, it seems almost anyone from Canada must be a girl !! Must double check next time :)

Now, that explains why. I think I've been influenced by your wrong assumption, Peter.
