wait are you going from sydney to perth and then back towards brisbane and then NZ?!
Perth is out of the way no matter where you are. You'd save a lot of money and time by skipping perth. there is heaps to see and do on the east coast with out going too far north....sydney, byron bay, surfers paradise, brisbane, fraser island...
sydney- def go to the zoo- it's crazy good
-take the ferry from circular quay to manly beach- the beach is nice but the ferry ride is incredible and cheap
-check out glebe for some nice little cafes and shops
-walk from coogee beach to bondi beach
-stay at the palms in kings cross- so much fun!
-the blue mts are nice too
if you go to brisbane from sydney you have to stop in byron bay. you have to! it is just an incredible beach! get a surf lesson there too, it's great.
brisbane- 14 days is a long time in brissy if you don't know anyone there. I spent about three weeks there by myself just to save money and settle down for a bit. I had a small job selling strawberries that allowed me to see the entire city and all of it's suburbs....it's a really nice city, but it has nothing that really stands out in the forefront like in sydney. in the city center the Queen st mall is nice. the valley and southbank are decent places to check out too.
I 'd say try to get out to fraser island for 3 days, 2 nights. it really is something special. there were times when I thought I had gone to another planet.
when you get to NZ leave auckland as soon as possible. If you have a limited time in NZ, don't waste any of it in auckland. I spent about two months there, met some amazing people, fell in love, and had some really fun times. but the rest of the country just blows it away in terms of natural beauty. I'd hate to say it but also don't spend a lot of time in welly either. it is my favorite city on the planet but if you are in NZ for a short time get out of the cities!
