hello people!
:D

my friend and i r going to sydney in the beginning of september. we want to go to alice springs (+uluru) and darwin before the wet season, so basically in september and early/mid october, and then start heading back down south the east cost... So,what i'm askin, is that should we take a flight straight from sydney to alice springs (haven't found any cheap ones though), or go by bus to melbourne and adelaide and take a plane from adelaide to alice springs (i've found some cheap adelaide-alice springs flights, but travelling by bus in victoria is going to cost a lot of money as well, and it's much slower). the train tickets i've found are pretty expensive... but then again, i've heard, that it would be a mistake to go by bus all the way from adelaide to darwin..

so, i would appreciate if any one, who has experiences or just has some opinion would give us some advice!!:)

thanks in advance

love saara

I don't remember seeing a cheap way to get to and from alice springs when I was in oz. maybe look at flights from melb to alice springs. lots of flights leave from there.

I took greyhound from syd to melb for like $50 then did a great ocean road / grampians tour to adelaide and immediately drove out of adelaide with someone I met at a hostel. It was a mistake for me to go to adelaide.

tiger airlines is always a good cheap option from adelaide to alice you can get flights from $28 to $150 or the train around $160 or a 2 day tour with groovy grape $215 including accom and food.
hope thats some help :) ps or you can do groovy grape 6 day 5 night tour including all food accom from adelaide to alice including uluru for $645 and then add on there track tour alice to darwin :)
happy travels
