Hi, as the title suggests, im looking for some advice on descent hotels/hostels to book for the first few nights i arrive in Bangkok. Me and a friend are just looking for somewhere that is clean, with hot water and a shower. Its our first time in Bangkok so we are gonna be a bit daunted so somewhere a bit quiet would be good. To be honest, were looking for somewhere around the 500 baht a night price range if posible.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks!:)

For 500-600B you'll get something fine - Rambuttri Village Inn and Mango Lagoon PLace are both good and new and the D&D Inn, while fading is central and remains very popular.

Hope that helps

TravelEm-

Have you stayed in Suk11 then? It has been recommended to me by a friend who's been back a few times. Just wanted to hear any other opinions of it before I booked.

It looks nice enough on the website. I'm on my own so looking for somewhere comfortable and fairly safe, but importantly where its easy to meet likeminded travellers (ie not a posh hotel) My friend says although Sukhimvit Rd area is away from the traditional backpacker Khao San Rd places, its safer. Would you agree?

Having heard two recommendations I might go ahead with it.

Suk11 is very safe. Comfortable enough for the price.
