hey guys!

im hoping some of you can shed some light on how the work situation is in scotland at the moment? ill be a newly graduated PE teacher in november and am looking to head overseas (again) for work... there are lots of jobs in england but for whatever reason that doesnt appeal to me...

i went to edinburgh for a weekend and had a fantastic time, i didnt want to leave at all, so im thinking that i might try and go there to work?however im having some trouble finding places that advertise jobs there...

whats the work situation like, should i not really bother or am i not looking in the right places? ive heard the situation is really bad in ireland so im wondering how scotland is faring?

what are some other great places to go and live/work in scotland aside from edinburgh??

I've been living in Edinburgh since August last year and the employment situation is pretty bad i think. im just using it as a base for travel so am content with casual work here and there but on of the lads i know here has just lost his job as a P.E teacher and is battling to find another one. I havent really spent much time outside edinburgh really but it is a great city, much nicer than glasgow. but im sure there are other nice areas if you dont mind living somewhere smaller.

I don't think there will are many jobs for P.E teachers as firstly it's a popular job and secondly we have the current job situation although they say that it is starting to recover, i know a P.E teacher and am pretty sure he is having problems with jobs. The places to look are http://www.tes.co.uk/jobsHub.aspx?navcode=6 or have a look at the Edinburgh council website or maybe just email them a spec letter. But as i said P.E teacher has always been a popular job so loads of people will be applying, i was going to do it myself at one point. But as you said there are probably quite a few jobs in England. TBH Edinburgh is a cut above a lot of places, not just in Scotland, so you would struggle to match Edinburghs total coolness anywhere else, i wouldn't want to disappoint you.

Just keep you eye on tesjobs and get onto the councils mailing list and keep on applying. Good luck.
