Quoting Herr Bert

Arnhem is there, because I just keep updating the page

(or are edit excluded in the visiting counts)

Yeah, I believe I said that months ago as well about some articles.
If so though, that basically means that some articles aren't read at all, or just very occassionally. Which makes you wonder...

These stats are based on unique visits, so although your visits would count, they would not be significant enough to make for big changes. Your edits almost certainly would contribute, but not how you think. You see, Google often boosts pages that it sees were recently edited, providing some "freshness" to the search results. Most of the time, the Arnhem page doesn't get a whole lot of traffic (<5 visits/day), but on July 1st it had a spike of 34 visits. Most notably for the keyphrase "Arnhem Wiki". I'm guessing it was number 1 for that phrase on that day. Considering we're still no.2 now, but not getting nearly as much traffic.

To get an idea of the total amount of traffic that guide articles get:

The no. 1 article is Europe and it had 2,641 page views in June.
The no. 100 article was Ukraine and it had 150 page views

Wimbledon had 337, Famous Mountains 990 (no.2 in Google for Famous Mountains), Pitcairn Islands 171

Total pageviews for articles with "/guide/" in them was 88,786 (includes 14,527 to the main /guide/ page)
