I am happy that the real winner is TP foundation:). Isa must be happy to find a substantial amount getting its way to the TP foundation.....

Congrats Michael:) for the well deserved prize and a pat on my back too for putting up a brave fight and winning the consolation prize.

A suggestion to Peter, modify the format of future such competitions so that latecomers can also be encouraged to join in and be in running for the prize!!

Cheers
Arif

Cheers guys!

That's quite a large sum of money for Kiva! In fact, that means that every place which functioned as either a starting or finishing place (or both) had more than 2000 characters added, because I counted 34 in total over there.

Congrats as well Arif, guess that will mean a free night or two on Sri Lanka!

So, where is Isa aka Foundation (is that the same one as the Foundation in Knightrider back in the 80's). She must be happy now!

O, by the way, I think that's a good idea Arif, to have a more open competition. More people will join than I guess.
Although I have to admit, that a competition with always random picks is not really a competition..so maybe another real competition, where the number of characters will decide who will win...I am sure this will mean an extreme boost in the wikiguide, where February 2009 will be beaten....;)

Agreed guys that it future competitions need to allow late entrants a bit more easily. I think earning "tickets" in the lottery for each day of contributions is not a bad idea. So people who stick around for the long haul certainly have a higher chance than those that come in late. But there is still some chance for those that do make it late. Or maybe one prize for the person who contributed most and then a separate random prize for all participants. Kills two birds.

Did I hear my name being called from a distant far off land??

Isa has asked me to speak on her behalf and she says: YES, I'M A VERY VERY HAPPY LITTLE LOAN OFFICER!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, ya all know it's me (Isa) anyway but decided to bump up Foundation's post count so the forum rules stop popping up with every reply. It's not easy being a budding member when you already know the rules by heart. ;)

Congratulations Michael and Arif!!!!! Enjoy your prizes and the travel that will surely ensue!! Excellent performances on both your parts.

I must admit, reading the "receipt of funds" e-mail from PayPal and the amount finally sinking in, it had my brain in a bit of a spin yesterday. It's felt like a long time of just twiddling my thumbs, waiting for that AdSense money to arrive and then WHAM - the TPF coffer is brimming!! There is still a small bit of work left to be done before the first loans are made, but by early next week... Guess you'll have to read the next blog entry (which will be posted early next week, if not sooner also) to find out more.

Again, thank you to everyone who has participated!!

Un-stickied it...although it is almost July 2010 of course

Edit: hmm, that's odd: there is a sticky and un-sticky thread now

It takes a bit to show the thread as un-stickied. I've run into it a couple of times. (Ghosts in the machine.)

Isa now returns this to the 2010 maybe there will be another competition discussion.
