I know a wildlife pro who covered around $21000 with State Farm. He got robbed twice, once for nearly everything, and had great service. If you're covering that much gear, you'll want one of the bigger companies that won't so much as blink forking out $14000.

For those curious as to how this turned out. I was able to cover $16000 worth of gear under a home owners maritime coverage... whatever that means ... Total cost $230 FOR A YEAR! Thanks for the ideas. :)

Bon Voyage!

That sounds an OK deal. What are the excesses, if any??

I'm reading it that 'deductible" may be the same as our 'excess'.

It seems an excellent deal for the amount of cover though. ;)

Total cost $230 FOR A YEAR!. Some of the other travel places were quoting me $100 a month.

I should also note that is has a $250 deductible and covers just about everything - theft, damage, lost ect. None of that 50% cost crap and max item cost coverage like world nomads either...

$450 to replace $16000 if anything bad happens sounds like a deal to me.

Long story short I am pretty excited.

Thanks for the ideas.

:)

That's great Sam. Who did you take out the insurance with? I need to insurance my own gear!

$250 deductable seems a bit excessive - compared to other policies. But as long as your happy, that's all that matters.

Maybe... basically means you have to pay $250 before the insurance company pays for anything... If only $250 worth of gear is stolen... then you have to pay for everything.

If more then $250 is stolen... you only have to pay $250... and this is a one time fee for the whole year.

Once the deductible is meet there is no more fee... insurance covers everything.

It's a rate based off of the coverage amount... if the coverage amount was less the deductible would be less.

It was through a local agent... they had to confirm it with the underwritter... I don't know who that is yet until I sign the paper work.

I'd imagine it is with one of the major providers in the US... as that's who they use for other policies IE progressive for car insurance.

Same as our excess. Can't remember what mine is actually.
