Hiya

Husband and I plan a month in Thailand Feb 2010. :) Not sure when to book flights though. Travelling Uk to Thailand and will be starting from Aberdeen which makes it more expensive to begin with but not sure whats a good price at that time of year being busy time. Best price can find so far is approx £1200 with KLM for the two of us? China airlines is slightly cheaper but bit reluctant to fly with them given what I have read? Is the KLM price good? or should we wait until closer to the time?

appreciate any advice

Thanks

KLM and China Airlines are a code share, so if you book with either of them you will probably end up with KLM to Amsterdam and then China Airlines to Bangkok. My parents flew with them the year before last and said both companies were awful with old planes, rude staff and bad food, so not a good recommendation.

I think it's a little early to be booking...maybe start seriously thinking about booking in October/November. Try flying with one of the Gulf airlines (Emirates, Gulf, Qatar, Eitihad) as they have good service and fly from Glasgow (well Emirates does anyway) and is probably easier for you to get to than London.

I'm not sure what airline prices are like at the moment as we are based in Asia, but last year my parents paid £900-ish for a flight to Bangkok with Emirates flying via Dubai. They flew in April and booked at the end of February.

Thanks for the reply. Flight was definately KLM all the way as am aware of the code share. Always had good experience myself with KLM. You are right about flights from Glasgow and they are slightly cheaper, Aberdeen is just easier!

Cheers

Yes, my parents flights were all KLM numbers as well but the flight Amsterdam to Bangkok was China Airlines - we never did figure that one out. They also double checked it would be KLM all the way with e-bookers on the telephone and tey weren't happy bunnies by the time they got to Bangkok!

Maybe a low cost flight to a European hub and then direct with Thai or Eva would work out ok time wise for you?

Air Asia fly from Stansted not Heathrow - it may prove to be too expensive with a connecting flight as the OP lives in Aberdeen.

air asia def the cheapest even adding on transport to stansted and onward flight from kuala lumpur to bangkok.

jet/emirates/eva etc all v competitive too you have plenty of time to subscribe to email alerts flight sales to asia v frequent at the mo.

a sub £1000 budget should be easily achieved even flying from aberdeen.

You can also check Emirates, they have plenty of flights out of UK and Scotland connecting through Dubai.

I've seen on their canadian website that there is a promotion like $150 back when you book on Aug 10 and 11 , don't know if they got similar offers in their UK website
