Hi all,

I'm sure these type of questions get asked ALL the time on here so I apologise now but I've searched the forum and read through endless stuff on the internet about visas for S.E. Asia. If anyone has any links to useful threads from here or other weblinks I'd be very grateful.

I'm going to Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia & Laos for 2 months (total) in January at the end of a 6 month RTW trip I begin in September.

I'm looking for confirmation about visas - the embassy websites are quite confusing and it's doing my head in!

Thailand - Think I'm sorted with that, just need to get down to the embassy in London (I'm a UK resident).
Malaysia - Is it the same story? Go to the embassy and apply there?
Cambodia & Laos - No idea with these... help?!

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer :)

Adam.

Adam,
The websites for each country lay it out pretty well.

Thailand will issue you a free, 30 day entry permit if you are flying in. 15 days if you cross a land border. If you want to spend more than 30 days in Thailand, buy a visa in the UK.

Malaysia issues UK citizens a free 90 day tourist visa on arrival.

Cambodia will sell you a 30 day visa for $20 on arrival at their airports or land borders.

VietNam has a 'visa on arrival' system for those arriving by air. I cover this in my blog: 'Off to SaiGon'. You need to have a VN visa in hand if you cross a land border. Cheapest, easiest place to buy a VN visa is Phnom Penh. Any guesthouse or travel shop will do it for you, about $30-35 for a 30 day visa.
