Cheapest places in Asia? Now to get idea how cheap countries in Asia are, pls take a look at the recent survey done by Mercer for 2009 and pls click this link http://www.finfacts.ie/costofliving.htm. It comes out that the Philippines generally which is often the most underrated tourist destination in Asia yet hosts to some of the world's most fabulous places of interests such as the Subterrannean River in Palawan, Rice Terraces in Mt. Province (the world's largest), white sandy beaches and amazing dive sites in the tropical islands in the Visayas which also host unspoilt beaches and quaint rural communities, is also one of the cheapest places in the world which ranks out of the top 100. Gigantic malls and best bargains in Asia whther signature brands and designer labels or native handicrafts and foods (fast food or gourmet food) are very very cheap and ur US$100 wud go a long way.

How about security? Well, every country has its own security concern and it includes the Philippines. But as always most media ranks Philippines as the scariest place on earth and thus often shunned altogether by first-time travelers. Now take a look the latest survey and click this link to get idea on how safe countries are across the world http://www.mapsofworld.com/world-top-ten/countries-with-highest-reported-crime-rates.html. And ull know how unfair those western media are in portraying the Philippines.

So consider the Philippines as one of ur stops n ur itinerary. If u want to avoid the big city of Manila u can fly direct to Cebu City in central Philippines from Hongkong, Singapore, Qatar, Malaysia, Japan and Korea.

So a good and smart traveller shud do a lot of research before embarking on a journey.

Koh Chang is am Amazing and not that expensive. Other than that, I love the whole of Thailand, so pretty much any place there.

I would say Thailand is the cheapest and most beautiful place in Asia.

10 Baht for 1 bowl of noodle

Thailand is the cheapest and some Chinese cities... Thailand I'd say cheapest, because it has so much to offer, and it so much options... Laos and Cambodia can be cheaper... But just look at BANGKOK, it a great city and the prices are great.

Thailand is very impressive - I've never seen so much gold leaf in my life. The rice terraces in the NW Highlands of Vietnam are breathtaking too.

I believe that Cambodia or Laos holds the title of cheapest, but rural Vietnam comes very close.

But Laos, though beautiful and cheap, you dont get the grandeur experience of Amazing Bangkok, in cities of Laos...
What I mean is, what we see in Thailand is way to beautiful for the price we pay or money we spend...

Angkor Watt, I had to pay 20 US dollars, when I can be as amazed walking the streets of Chiangmai for free.

wait, both of u. dont get me wrong but thailand is not that cheap generally. bangkok may be a beautiful city because of ancient temples and ruins but unfortunately the smog is terrible!

China has the best hostels and since accomodations affects a great deal of our budget, China is definitely one affordable country travel. I even thought its cheaper than Vietnam. Vietnam was really expensive.

whats the connection of smog and cheap... smog is no stranger to Asian cities... think Manila, Beijing, Hanoi and I hope the list does not grow...

Indonesia is very cheap and very beautiful:
highlights for me include - Lake Toba on Sumatra - wow! a huge crater lake - the volcano supposedly erupted tens of thousands of years ago, causing the last ice age...a bit like yellowstone national park in the US now...a supervolcano!
Gunung Bromo in east Java....a bit like the moon....people have hypothesised that there may have been a fake moon landing and this might have been where it was filmed!!
Bali is so beautiful.....climg up gunung agung for amazing views over the island and, on a clear day, across to Lombok island.
The north of Thailand, the mountain roads north of Chiang Mai....hire a bike for a circular route, stopping at Pai, Mae Hong son and back to Chiang Mai......
snorkelling or scuba-diving in Koh Tao, Thailand.....
Gokarna in India...by the sea...but be careful in the sea - many underestimate the currents, even experienced swimmers....!!
P.s: India, you can easily budget for 10 US dollars a day. Thailand, I'd say 15-20 US dollars a day now...things have gone up! indonesia...haven't been there for 3 years, but it was always a bit cheaper than Thailand....if you're vegetarian, vege food isn't so easy to find in indonesia.....you might end up getting sick of the dish called gado-gado!
Have a good holiday wherever you go :)

-snip-

chiang Mai is great! and certainly beautiful in parts...head up Doi suthep mountain.....
