How come he never had the surgery to correct it? Was it a partial or a full cleft? Did you try to make him laugh ? (..my sister and I always tried to get eachother to shoot beverages out eachothers noses by laughing..especially milk...for some reason...milk was funnier)
Way back in those days (when he was a child), the medical facilities weren't too good. In much later years, he had an account to settle with the taxation office. Once that was sorted out, then he had a much younger bride and two babies in rapid succession
My father had a cleft palate. Whenever he wanted to drink beer fast, he needed to hold his nose otherwise the beer would go through the top of his mouth and out his nose.
Drinking games were out then
That had its advantages whenever I worked for him, because on a Friday afternoon he could buy my drinks for me. He could sit back while I represented him
