Apologies if a similar posting already exists, but I am looking to go to SE Asia this November, and need some inspiration. Im coming from Australia, I have only 2 weeks, and am aiming to go to 1 country only. I am not really partial to a paticular landscape, though I reckon that I will need to see a lovely beach for a few days- and wouldnt mind being someone for a few days with a bit of night life (will be turning the big 3.0 whilst over there). Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I think Thailand would be the best option - Bangkok has good nightlife, and Thailand has plenty of lovely beaches which you could visit after that.

Beijing is the best option .You can not only visit the Great Wall, but also go to the beach.

Beijing???? It's about 10° in November, lot's of fun on the beach!!!!

Ok, Thailand is a good option if you want and a beach, and some nightlife.
But in my opinion, I think the beaches in Indonesia and the Philippines are a better option, but here you will not find a booming nightlife, or you have to go to Bali.
And if I remember, there must be some cheap flights from Australia to Bali.

When I travelled around Vietnam, I met a lot of Australians, and they all said they took advantage of cheap flights as well, and if you'll go to Mui Ne, you'll find beaches, nightlife and landscapes.

I think a good option would be to fly into bangkok stay a night or soo their then move down to pattaya. Pattaya has a decent beach and if you dont like it then you could easily gte a boat out to another island or an island tour for the day. Pattaya is a good place because of the night life for turning 30. Their is something for absolutely everyone in pattaya. Alot of people compare it to vegas lol. Have a good time anyways :D

Depends what kind of crowd you want around you (if you want any at the first place). Philippines - Boracay/ Cebu/Palawan - awesome beaches, crowd - half the women would be the "working", and (moslty) all men would be there to pick one of them. Same for Pattaya - just too touristy. Bali - if you avoid touristy places which have same issues as Pattaya and Boracay, you can find some nice not so crowded beaches, nice to spend two weeks (hiking/beaches/ local cult etc). Vietnam - nice beaches but less developed infrastructure, party scene - I don't remember anything exciting, on plus side lots of culture, interesting ppl, hiking, travelling up to China border, Halong bay etc ..
Singapore - No beach, but sufficient party/shopping etc etc.
Have fun and wlecome to the bright side (of 30) .. Cheers!

Aussie / 2 weeks / Southeast Asia:

Ok then Thailand is the one for you. Fly into Phuket, give yourself 4 or 5 days there, plenty of nightlife, great food, awesome beaches and the lovely lovely Thai people. Elephant park, boat cruises to beautiful islands, lots of good coffee and beer! Spa!!

Head up to Bangkok for 4 or 5 days, hotels are good value, great tourist stuff to do, markets, temples, river crusies.

Still got money, Chiang Mai. Highlands, cooler, awesome scenery, very different view of Thailand, Thai's and SEA generally.

You can book it all through Thai Air in Australia and they give great packages just like this.

The other places, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, are all fantastic, but it sounds like you'll enjoy this.

Quoting Jessica86

Hi,

I think Vietnam is the good option. I visited Vietnam few months ago. I spent 4 days in Phu Quoc Island - very nice beach with white and and clear water. There are many nice resort available there. To come there, you will fly from Saigon. I believe you will enjoy this place.

I also did trekking trip to Fansipan in the North. I booked the trip with travel agent named Active Travel Asia. The trip was fanstastic. Our guide Tsao was especially helpful and really helped my mother climb the mountain. The food and porters were also very good. It is worthy to try as you will feel very excited when reaching the top.

Also, you can do kayaking in Halong. It was also interesting as Halong bay is really nice.

Hope you will fine these info helpful

Have a good trip

Jessica:)

I have the same ideal with Jessica!! :) Vienam is a good choice for you.

Beside Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam also has a lot of other beautiful beaches like Mui Ne (in the South), Nhat Le (in the Middle), Lang Co (in the Middle too) or Bai Tu Long (in the North).

I also recommence you to trek Fansipan and kayak in Halong bay. I'm sure you will have an unforgettable time!!!

Hope this can help you!

It's ridiculous replies like this that gives the women of the Philippines such a bad name around the world.

if you'd like to hit the beach yeah you can spend it in Boracay which has a lively nightlife on the beach.. Puerto Galera is less crowded than Boracay but it is also lively... but if you'd like to relax more on the beach you can check out Puerto Princesa or El Nido.

or if you like water adventure sports, you can try going to CamSur (Camarines Norte) in the Bicol peninsula of the Philippines... CamSur is boasting to have the best Wakeboarding facility in the region... Many Aussies visit the place to try it out... I believe Naga is the nearest airport... you can also check out the Mayon Volcano from there...
